Weight Training with Weight Training Equipment
When someone exercises with the use of weights they are actually exercising the same way as the ancients would do when preparing to enter the annual Olympics in Greece. The equipment and process may be slightly different however they are actually experiencing the same goals.
From the 1930′s and upwards Charles Atlas began to popularize weight training. You would often see him posing in comic books and offering to take “Your 98 pound body and develop muscles of steel for you”. The image was usually displayed with a man lying on the beach and having sand kicked in his face. It was a very effective advertising program and made Charles an overnight sensation.
During the 1980′s another hero of weight lifting entered the scene. When the movie “Pumping Iron” was released the main star became an outstanding success in popularity. That star was none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. From the late 90′s women have developed an increased interest in weight lifting as well. Weight training has been increasingly popular, and this also explains the popularization of weight training equipment to assist in building muscle.
When performing these types of exercises the person will select repetitions from 1 to as many as 6 at a time. Upon completing the series a short break will be taken. After which the exercise will once again resume. The weights that are selected for each of the exercises are determined by the end results that are expected. It is important that these exercises be performed exactly as they are designed in order to achieve the maximum benefits.
A very popular method of weight lifting is known as progressive overload. During these exercises the weight trainer attempts to overload the muscles in the sense of lifting at least as much weight as the lifter is capable of. This results in larger and stronger muscles. It is continually repeated with even larger and heavier weights. Although these types of exercises may be effective they are considered to be rather risky. Beginners should never use this type of method until they have developed a bit of experience. It’s much easier to begin on quality weight training equipment also.
The main advantage of weight training over many of the other exercise programs is that with weight training the exercises can be carefully selected for a specific goal and the weights can be precisely adjusted for each individual type of muscle group. Other types of strength training exercises seem to lack the necessary flexibility and precision which the weights offer the exerciser.
If time is a hindrance to you but you still would like to work out it is possible to split your workout time into several different time frames. This seems to work great for those people with extremely busy schedules. One time you would do upper body related exercises while the next you would complete the lower body ones.
